The Supplier Quality Engineering team in Naples, FL is responsible for supporting the manufacturing of medical devices by Arthrex’s vendors. We are searching for a Co-op pursuing a Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Degree to support the management of suppliers across all Arthrex sites. The successful candidate will communicate directly with suppliers, review supplier documentation, and evaluate opportunities for reduced inspection with close guidance and approval from the engineering staff. In addition, the Co-op will be responsible for assisting in updates to Supplier Quality Procedures and evaluating metrics for the team. This individual will gain valuable experience in statistical techniques applied to manufacturing engineering, a review of a multitude manufacturing processes used in the medical device field, and familiarity with ISO 13485 standard and FDA Regulation CFR 21 part 820. The Co-op will also have the opportunity to develop soft skills such as public speaking, time management, and technical writing.
This internship will run from July 2025 – December 2025. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.
Main Objective:
To support various tasks related to improving supplier quality inspection requirements, tools, and methods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review opportunities for inspection alignment or efficiency gains.
- Update documentation surrounding new or updated procedures.
- Gather metrics/data and present to the team monthly.
- Communicate with suppliers and request various documents, such as ISO certificates.
- Review Supplier History Files and consolidate or update to remain compliant.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Progress towards a college degree in engineering required. Junior or above, studying Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Industrial Engineering preferred.
(Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.) - Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
Ability to effectively communicate, oral and written, and possess the ability to work through technical issues.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
Knowledge of surgical equipment/instrumentation and mechanical testing equipment preferred.PC, ProEngineer or other 3D modeling software a plus.
