Arthrex is a global medical device company and leader in orthopedics medical education. With a corporate mission of Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™, Arthrex has pioneered the field of arthroscopy and develops more than 1,000 innovative products and procedures each year that support all aspects of orthopedics.  The Imaging and Resection team (I&R) is actively searching for a Design Engineering Co-op to support the ongoing design and development activities for the I&R product portfolio. The ideal candidate will know SolidWorks or similar CAD software experience, understand engineering fundamentals, and have interpersonal skills. A student studying Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering preferred.  

This Co-op will run from July 2025 – December 2025. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.

Main Objective:

Co-op will work with the Imaging and Resection Engineering department to gain experience in research, design, testing, and manufacturing of medical devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support our Shaver product line in developing and designing new products, testing fixtures and analyzing problems.
• Utilize Solidworks modeling, including drawing prototype parts.
• Design and print 3D test fixtures.
• Supporting engineering documentation.
• Student will attend regular departmental meetings, training sessions, symposiums, etc. as required.
• Works within specifications provided to meet project goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner
• Effectively works with peers, project team members, and other departments in new product development, product line extensions, and product enhancements
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

• Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an engineering degree or a recent graduate within the last six months.  Senior in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)
• Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0
• Prior experience with CAD software, such as Solidworks, preferred.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements /Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing and possess the ability to work through technical issues

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation, mechanical testing equipment, PC, ProEngineer or other 3D modeling software a plus.
