With a corporate mission of Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™, Arthrex has pioneered the field of arthroscopy and develops more than 1,000 innovative products and procedures each year that support all aspects of orthopedics.  The Foot & Ankle and Trauma product development team in Naples, FL is responsible for the design and development of all foot, ankle and trauma implants and respective instrumentation. We are searching for a co-op pursuing a Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering degree to support the Foot & Ankle and Trauma Engineering team in Naples, FL. The successful candidate will help design orthopedic devices using CAD (Solidworks and/or Creo), assist in cadaver labs, help coordinate prototyping, and assist engineers with documentation. The individual must be able to perform the assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner, be detail oriented, able to communicate effectively, accountable and have some CAD knowledge.

 

This co-op will run from July 2025 – December 2025. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.

 

 

Main Objective:

Co-op will assist engineers with Engineering Change Orders (ECO), concept and prototype subsystem design and development, lab, documentation support.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determine types of tests to be performed to adequately evaluate product performance.
  • Apply principles learned in school to hands-on situations, such as strength analysis, functional testing, failure analysis and documentation of results.
  • Assist with CAD modeling, Design History Files (DHF) documentation, research, testing & analysis.
  • Execute design ECOs within the product lifecycle management (PLM) system.
  • Provide support to Cadaver lab, peers, project team members, and other departments with new product development, product line extensions, and product enhancements.
  • Coordinate prototypes procurement.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Enrolled as a full-time junior or senior, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, or a recent Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering graduate required.   
    (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)
  • Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Basic to intermediate computer skills. Be able to follow written and verbal direction.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

  • PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
  • Experience with CAD required.   Creo preferred.
