Arthrex is a global medical device company and leader in orthopedics medical education. With a corporate mission of Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™, Arthrex has pioneered the field of arthroscopy and develops more than 1,000 innovative products and procedures each year that support all aspects of orthopedics. This internship position is to create an opportunity for an undergraduate student to explore the scrum coach role, software development, and the medical device industry. The responsibilities of this internship will support goals of learning the scrum process and skills, implementing continuous process improvement, and being a servant leader to help development teams.

 

This internship will run from May 2023 – August 2023. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Santa Barbara, CA facility.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Co-facilitate daily scrum ceremonies.
  • Design and administer process improvement survey for Agile/Scrum team. Analyize findings to determine areas of growth for the Agile/Scrum team and what positive changes can be implemented.
  • Create Intro to Scrum training materials and present to intern co-hort (and anytone else who is interested) at the end of summer internship.
  • Learn how to use Jira, and then make Jira training videos for ACT specific Scrum processes..
  • Create a bank of retrospective templates based off of software teams feedback and data.
  • Plan and facilitate team building activites for engineering teams.
  • This is an in-office position located in Santa Barbara, CA; it is not a remote position.

 


Education and Experience:

Progress towards a college degree in a related field required. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in Scrum and Agile.
  • Interest in Software Development, Engineering, and the medical device industry.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
