Arthrex is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex Manufacturing is actively searching for a Sr. Engineering Tech. This position will be located at the new Arthrex manufacturing facility in Pendleton, SC. The hours for this position are the Day Shift (6:00am to 4:30pm Monday - Thursday).       

 

Sign-on Bonus: A one-time sign-on bonus of $2,000.00 minus appropriate tax withholding will be paid to you on the first pay period after you start your employment at Arthrex.

 

Main Objective:

To provide technical manufacturing support for new product development / trials, online training of new personnel in suture assembly processes.  Along with fosters an environment continuous improvement to develop more robust procedures and improvements within existing processes.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical input on manufacturing techniques that could be used to produce new products.
  2. Ability to execute requests for new product development trials utilizing manufacturing teams and processes.
  3. Establish and maintain a process to support change orders for both internal and INC generated. Understand the nature of associated ME / QE tasks as relates to change order process, as required.
  4. Assist cross-functional teams (Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, etc.) as necessary with tasks supporting new product development, new manufacturing introduction, data entry and analyses, documentation updates, etc., as required. 
  5. Train existing manufacturing team members to suture assembly products and processes.
  6. Assist Engineering as directed in tasks needed to be executed to start new manufacturing codes. Understanding of BOM’s and Routings would be beneficial.
  7. Support orientation and training of new team members on suture assembly processing techniques to ensure comprehension of the task along with the ability to perform the task, as required.
  8. Review existing procedure and improve where necessary.
  9. Develop and maintain change order matrices to track and identify advise via monthly reporting, as required.
  10. Develop and maintain training / flexibility matrices to track and identify who is trained vs. certified on tasks, as required.
  11. Possesses the ability to effectively communicate to all operational groups including manufacturing, quality personnel, and supervisors as it relates to ideas, questions, and concerns.
  12. Work with Engineering on the continuous improvement of assembly and change order processes.
  13. Identify opportunities to improve process robustness to reduce scrap and increase efficiency.
  14. Follow the quality system requirements to ensure quality is at the forefront in the production of medical devices. Training & enforcement of GMP practices, line setups and clearances and ensuring correct documentation is followed, as required.
  15. Notify Supervisor of any training issues as they arise.
  16. Support all aspects of visual factory, and continuous improvement.  Support all aspects of the operations by producing signs and labels, floor markings, and any other activities that support GMP and continuous improvement, as required.

  • Advanced knowledge of new details and changes to products, processes, engineering concepts, and systems as they relate to engineering change orders, manufacturing processes, and product design.
  • Proficient in best practices for processes, products, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of textile design, manufacturing, and inspection methods and processes.
  • Independently execute and support tasks associated with manufacturing projects (change orders, validations, engineering studies, etc.).
  • Ability to coordinate process improvements, change orders, and clarify device specifications with engineers.
  • Able to coach and mentor junior personnel on suture assembly equipment and processing techniques, change order processing, and best practices as they relate to engineering, manufacturing, and quality concepts.
  • Proficient in MS Office.

Education/ Experience:

  • 5 years relevant experience with HS diploma or equivalent required AS or some college preferred.
  • Combined experience in medical device manufacturing industry (textiles preferred) and  engineering documentation/concepts

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements. 

 

Language and Communication Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above.  Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management.  Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
