This position is located at our Pendleton, SC location on 1st shift (6am-4:30pm Mon.-Thurs.) We also offer voluntary overtime on Fridays. 


Main Objective:

To set up and operate advanced assembly, packaging and inspection equipment; to assemble and package products following Arthrex Manufacturing, Inc. processes and procedures while ensuring that superior quality is provided to our customers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Functions as backup Production Coordinator as required by business needs/growth with additional training as needed.
  • Performs Packaging Machine Operator functions as required.
  • Performs process set-up and operation ofadvanced final device assembly and packaging/inspection equipment according to established Work Instructions and within validated parameters.  Equipment includes, but is not limited to:  Ultrasonic Welding, Induction Bonding, Laser Marking, and Vision Inspection cameras.
  • Performs Imaging and Resection Hand Piece assembly and repair operations and inspection.  Conducts Hand Piece complaint investigation, documentation, device cleaning/repair, and component issuance transactions.
  • Responsible for verifying and documenting calibration status, machine settings and test results as required per established work instructions and data collection forms for the DHR (Device History Record).
  • Maintains Tool Inventory on the shop floor.  Responsible for proper storage, control, and identification of tooling and fixtures.
  • Responsible for in-process inspection as defined in established work instructions including use of Micrometers and various gauges, cameras and inspection fixtures.
  • Produces samples for QC inspection; analyzes minor quality issues and takes corrective action.
  • Responsible for timely submission and accurate completion of maintenance/repair requests to the Packaging Supervisor and for adhering to Lock Out-Tag Out procedures.  Properly identifies equipment with status.
  • Generates labels per packaging work order as listed on the bill of materials/routers and completes inspection documentation.
  • Operates mobile barcode scanners to capture part consumption against a Work Order during assembly and packaging operations, and for managing inventory transfers between locations
  • Follows programs, policies, and procedures in order to help the growth of AMI as a world class medical device manufacturer.
  • Suggestsprocessand safety improvement ideas.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 2 years of manufacturing experience required.
  • At least 1 year of experience with advanced packaging and assembly equipment required.
  • Requires reading and comprehension, solving simple mathematical equations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and the ability to perform tasks through verbal communication.


Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Ability to perform tasks by reading, understanding and following work instructions provided.

Ability to work independently when necessary.

Ability to determine materials and tools required to perform the operation.

Ability to perform different tasks/operation required to manufacture the product.

Ability to suggest process improvements and problem solve.

Ability to use inspection tools and measuring devices to assure quality of product.


Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Operation of: label printers, weighing scales, label dispensing machines,impulse pouch sealers, blister/tray sealers, part washing machines, crimping machines, arbor presses, pneumatic presses, wire cutters, tygon tube cutters, ultrasonic welders, shrink/heat ovens, laser markers, induction bonding machines, semi-automated assembly equipment with robotics, soldering equipment, torque fixtures, optical comparators, micrometers, calipers, tappi charts, burst testers, electronic consoles, ESD grounding apparatus.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, problem solve and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Mathematical Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements.


Language and Communication Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above.  Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management.Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
