The Gage and Fixture Design Engineer II will manage an assortment of design projects and work closely with teams at other Arthrex locations. Main Objective:

The Gage & Fixture design Engineer is responsible for designing and procuring gages and services to support the inspection of complex product dimensions.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Using a CAD program, assist in the design of attribute fixtures for new projects, creating the drawings necessary to the required quality standards on a production basis.
  • Revise drawings of Gage & Fixture components, subassemblies, finished devices, packaging, tooling and fixtures in CAD as required.
  • Responsible for collaborating with the functional gage requestors to fully understand the gaging need, provide solutions that support low cost, ease of use, and calibration.
  • Interact with outside suppliers for quotes, design requirements, and delivery times as needed. They will also interact with internal departments during quoting, design, and build phases, reporting delivery times as needed.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensures that tool shops have all the necessary information, data, GD&T, etc. to proceed with design and build of gauges. 

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required; preferably in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
  • 3 years’ experience required.

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Proficient in CAD or similar dimensional graphic programs. Machine shop processes and technical knowledge in development methodologies, design, and implementation.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC, CAD systems, and various measurement and test equipment.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw a valid conclusion as to a course of action. 

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements. 

 

Language and Communication Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above.  Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management.  Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
