Main Objective: Responsible for defining holistic and actionable user experience strategies for a variety of products by aligning user insights with market research data and business objectives. Partners with a variety of teams including leadership, product management, product marketing management, and creative teams to ideate, design, and craft experience designs that deliver against business outcomes.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Thought Leadership
    • Champions design thinking and advocates for a human-centered culture and mindset to drive and implement superior user experiences across the entire customer journey including but not limited to digital touchpoints.
    • Exhibits expert command of the UX toolkit including UX research and analysis (observation, interviews, surveys, audits, usability testing), design thinking, personas, and journey maps.
  • Research
    • Leads discovery and research effort into industry trends, competitive information, and customer insights.
    • Conducts user/customer interviews, guides primary and secondary research, and reviews analytics and other materials.
    • Utilizes website and mobile data analytics research.
    • Synthesizes findings for project teams and formulates holistic strategic recommendations for project direction.
    • Maintains an in-depth understanding of stakeholder needs, business, products, and market and conducts regular reviews of competitor activities.
  • Ideation/Consultation
    • Facilitates ideation and strategy sessions and workshops with stakeholders, management and technical teams to gain clarity and alignment on goals and designs and prototypes customer experiences that deliver against desired business outcomes and KPIs.
    • Creates or contributes to various documents and presentations such as creative briefs, positioning statements, brand ecosystem maps, digital communication plans, research plans, social media strategies, customer journeys, and digital strategy roadmaps.
    • Provides ongoing strategic and tactical advice to stakeholders on a wide range of digital marketing topics.
  • Design/Development
    • Translates human motivation and behaviors into the design of esthetic yet functional modern product concepts and experiences.
    • Designs experiences that drive strategic cohesion across a variety of marketing tactics in service of big-picture business goals.
    • Designs and presents sketches, wireframes, low/high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, mood boards, service blueprints, journey maps, and other related experience design artifacts to support the end-to-end user experience.
    • Navigates the balance of user needs, stakeholder objectives, and team requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Presentation
    • Prepares and presents research, approaches, recommendations, and creative artifacts including prototypes in a compelling and impactful way to stakeholders, project teams, and leadership.
  • Collaboration
    • Collaborates with variety of teams and leadership including Creative Services team on development of content strategy and Corporate Communications team on promotion strategy.
    • Collaborates with UX design team on the translation of experience design artifacts and concepts into superior innovative visual interactions designs.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field required.
  • 7+ years of experience in interaction design, information architecture, brand marketing, and/or product management role in successively more responsible leadership positions required.
  • 3 years Healthcare industry or orthopedic medical experience required.

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills required to interact with and influence designers/developers, management, stakeholders, and internal/external customers.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and influence technical teams and stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with a cross-functional, multicultural, and geographically dispersed team.
  • Ability to successfully function and perform in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to successfully facilitate engaging ideation and white boarding sessions.
  • Expert at storytelling and delivering compelling presentations.
  • Advanced knowledge of design thinking and human-centered design process.
  • Analytical skills including the ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and develop recommendations.
  • Track record of designing product solutions that deliver measurable impact to business objectives & KPIs.
  • Strong knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Knowledgeable about effective change management for large-scale digital transformations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • High level of energy, personal drive, and positivity.
  • Experience with Agile development methodology is preferred.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Experience working with a wide variety of collaboration tools.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
