Technical Writer (Temporary)

Main Objective: Responsible for developing, writing and editing technical documentation including standard operating procedures, policies, and software project documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Researches, gathers, and organizes source information from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to write and revise technical documentation (e.g. standard operating procedures, work instructions, protocols, policies, etc.).
• Ensures that all documents are technically accurate, consistent with internal style guidelines, and consistent in regards to clarity, flow, organization, completeness, accuracy, readability, and/or appropriateness.
• Offers suggestions on improving document format to make documents more usable to the target audience.
• Produces technical software documentation in collaboration with software developers, business analysts, and quality assurance analysts.
• Miscellaneous documentation tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree in English, Journalism, Computer Science, Technical Communication, or related field required

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Technical writing experience required
• Experience writing and revising policies, standard operating procedures, and work instructions
• Familiarity with software development and / or operational management documentation
• Ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy
• Minimum of  2 years’ of experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in the Life Science industry required
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice requirements and Quality Systems is a plus

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Microsoft Word.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
