Main Objective:

To assist the Packaging Engineering Shoulder and Knee/Hip Arthroscopy team in: (1) Packaging components testing , (2) Create and/or update material specification drawings, (3) Create and/or update Packaging Assembly Instruction (PI) procedures and (4) Coordinate new packaging components prototypes design and acquisition from existing suppliers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and Execute Package designs testing (Tensile, Dye Penetrant, Bubble leak testing, visual inspections per ASTM standards).

  • Create Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in Agile for packaging components revisions or new release.

  • Update 2D drawings using Auto CAD.

  • Interaction with existing or new vendors to design and/or inquire new material prototypes.

  • Coordinate with AMIE manufacturing the build of new packaged product test samples.

Education and Experience:

Progress towards a college degree in Packaging Engineering required.


Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Basic to intermediate computer skills.
  • Be able to follow written and verbal direction.
  • Knowledge of ASTM & ISTA Test Standards (i.e. ASTM D4169,_ISTA 3A, ASTM F88).
  • Knowledge of packaging sterile and none sterile barrier materials (i.e. Tyvek, Foil pouch, Poly bags, Silicone and Polyurethane Tip protectors, PETG thermoformed rigid trays, Solid Bleach Sulfate board cartons)
  • Understanding of Medical Device Package Design principles.


Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner. Auto CAD.
