The Orthopedic Research department based in Naples; includes a team of clinical, biomaterials and biomechanical professionals. Arthrex is actively searching for a Biomedical Operations Coordinator to join the Orthopedic Research department. The successful candidate will work alongside the team organizing and overseeing research studies to contribute to advances in the medical community. Main Objective:
Assist the Operations division with reviewing and processing incoming study proposals and oversee the workflow for biomedical studies and related tasks to the Orthopedic Research department. Will aid in organizing, coordinating, and maintaining accounts for approved biomechanical research investigations. Assist with facilitating collaboration between the institution, the orthopedics department, and surgeons.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and implement process improvements for biomechanical-related initiatives
- Assess, mark, and forward emails in the studies email box and support the Biomechanical supervisor with related study requests
- Organize, review study, budget, and track supported research studies from stakeholders
- Send Global Grants decisions via email to external stakeholders and sites
- Collaborate with surgeons and internal department with study-related material or updates
- Establish new study accounts, adding marketed materials, and closing out accounts in billing systems for completed studies
- Issue payments to vendors and research sites according to the supported research agreement. Process and reconcile monthly invoices from the biomechanical study team
- Support biomechanical study team with the surgeon and department collaboration
- Order product for external research studies, track and request loaner returns to Arthrex
- Create a SalesForce Gems request for internal studies and register stakeholders
- Maintain and update Orthopedic Research Business Intelligence tool (ORBIt) study records with communications, products, and specimens for compliance purposes
- Report lab costs and products for internal studies and close them out in SAP Logistics for supporting departments
- Present project status and study metrics to upper management as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Associate of Science degree, bachelor's degree preferred
- Familiarity of orthopedics, basic concept of medical devices, basic understanding of anatomy preferred
- Relevant experience required, with 1 year minimum as a Medical or Research Coordinator
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are required.
- Good communication, documentation, and record-keeping skills are required.
- High level of customer orientation. Self-motivated, organized, and accurate in the daily management of activities Ability to work in a team and manage priorities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks and requests.
- Possessing a fundamental understanding of surgical techniques and instruments is beneficial.
- Proficient software skills: Word/ Excel/ PowerPoint

- PC, database, internet research tools
