Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. The Process Engineering team in Ave Maria, Florida (AMIE) is responsible for supporting the Laser, Passivation, and Cleaning operations at AMIE. We are searching for an Intern pursuing a Chemical or Biomedical Engineering degree to support the Process Engineering team at AMIE. The successful candidate will prepare, execute, and document Engineering Studies (Design Experiments and machine Trials) with guidance from the engineering staff. The individual will perform sampling and testing of products made during the Engineering Studies (pH, Conductivity, FTIR, Water Immersion) and will be detail oriented in the execution and documentation of these test methods. The individual will have the opportunity to design and evaluate fixtures used to load and orient parts in the equipment. The individual will also work within the requirements of their tasks to deliver results and communicate issues in a timely and accurate manner.)

 

This internship will run from May 2025 – August 2025. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Ave Maria, FL facility.

 

Main Objective:

To provide the intern with experience applying their Engineering Degree in a Medical Device manufacturing environment.  There are several projects in the AMIE Passivation and Cleaning area for new equipment and process development that directly relate to the Chemical Engineering degree.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Transfer products to new Cleaning Equipment.
  • Optimize fixturing for Passivation and Cleaning processes. 
  • Process development of new Passivation System.


Education and Experience:

Progress towards a college degree in a related field required, preferably in Chemical Engineering. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel. 
  • Basic Knowledge of Statistics.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
