Product Management

We are constantly working on new products, which means spending a lot of time organizing surgeon visits for research and development to better understand the needs of our customer. I am also constantly involved with our sales management and agencies, planning field visits, assisting with troubleshooting, and gathering surgeon feedback from product usage. The days tend to be rounded out by also managing the marketing strategy of the product line to ensure maximum impact, as well as frequent planning meetings to ensure that our product line is strategically aligned from a business perspective. There is a lot to do!

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love everything about medical device and orthopedics. When I worked in sales, I loved being in the operating room. I felt like I was a part of the surgical team - a necessary component. Years later, I felt a tug to be even more involved. Product management was a way for me to have an even larger impact – by helping shape the design of our devices for customers worldwide. I absolutely enjoy getting into technical discussions with surgeons about various orthopedic procedures and product improvement; there’s nothing else like it.

What has been a highlight during your time at Arthrex?

A big highlight for me has been receiving feedback from our surgeon customers regarding our newly launched ApolloRF® H50 probe. We spent a lot of time and effort to create a different product from our competitors that would provide the best option for ablation in hip arthroscopy. I was fortunate to visit several customers across the country during their initial usage, and the feedback was tremendously positive. Some days it feels surreal to see your hard work used in a surgery; it is an indescribable feeling.

What is the best advice you’ve received throughout your career?

I have been fortunate to grow up around the medical device industry. I have had several great mentors. The best advice I was given was to pay attention and listen. The best performers are always learning and improving – it never stops. The best way to succeed and thrive in your career is to continue learning and never allow yourself to become complacent.

What do you do in your downtime?

I have far too many hobbies and not enough time! I am fortunate to have an amazing wife that I spend plenty of time with. We love to cook and travel together. In early mornings, I will work out in my garage gym. I also love to go scuba diving, fishing/spearfishing and hunting.
