We are actively seeking an Agile Coach - Engineering to work with our Engineering teams at our Santa Barbara office. The mission of the role is to focus Engineering Development teams on the highest priority work, as identified by Product Management, and to enact efficiency to rapidly provide Arthrex with the most valuable output for the investment in Engineering resources. Ideally, the successful candidate will need some exposure to Agile practices along with a Bachelor’s degree, strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills. Main Objective:
The Agile Coach family is responsible for teaching and facilitating Agile Development practices, Agile process design/transformation. The mission of the role is to focus Engineering teams on the highest priority work, as identified by Product Management, and to enact efficiency in order to rapidly provide Arthrex with the most valuable output for the investment in Engineering resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Agile Scrum Ceremonies including Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Demonstrations, Daily Stand Up Meetings, and Retrospectives. Ensure team members are rapidly unblocked when progress has been halted.
- Stand up new, highly effective Agile engineering teams. Guiding them through the Forming/Storming/Norming to the Performing stage of team formation. Facilitate Team Process Agreement workshops and Team Building activities.
- Provide full transparency of the status of work to the broader organization via Scrum Boards, Demonstrations, and Burn Down charts.
- Track and interpret metrics to facilitate effective process improvement.
- Analyze Cumulative Flow Diagrams to identify and alleviate bottlenecks and to ensure that sufficient defined work is fed to the team to enable maximum throughput.
- Lead Software Release Planning. Assist Product Managers with documenting prioritization of features. Facilitate requirements sessions between Product Management and Service to ensure that the stakeholder needs of the Service department are met. Lead team estimation exercises to estimate the level of effort and technical risk of requested features and communicate those results to Product Management for their decision making with regard to the scope of the release. Maintain release content records.
- Leads Division/Organization Charting Sessions, building a common ethos and mission.
- Stay abreast of new developments and best practices within the field and engage teams with adopting new techniques and practices.

- Ability to effectively facilitate scrum ceremonies for an experienced Agile team.
- Developing understanding of what preparation to perform in advance of scrum ceremonies in order to ensure an efficient and effective use of time.

- Strong desire and proven ability to learn quickly
- Developing knowledge of the software development lifecycle and regulatory compliance activities embedded into the Arthrex software SDLC for software as a medical device.
- In depth understanding of one software product, its use cases, its client base, and its product roadmap and a general understanding of other software products created and maintained by the organization.
- Developing understanding of the technical architecture of products supported.
- Developing understanding of Agile metrics and how to interpret them.
Education/Experience:
- Agile facilitation experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
