Arthrex is actively searching for a Associate Scientific Specialist to join the Research team. The successful candidate will work alongside a department of expert orthopedic healthcare professionals, world class faculty, and product management.
Main Objective: The Scientific Specialist job family encompasses a progressive career track for research professionals who provide expert guidance and technical support to Research teams and their key stakeholders. These roles contribute to strategic research initiatives that are critical to the company's objectives, enhancing scientific communication and fostering collaboration across internal departments and external collaborators. This family job drives innovation in research processes, while also managing scientific access and ensuring high standards of scientific communication and collaboration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide scientific support to biomedical engineering and clinical research study teams in study application and study outcome reviews, ensuring that data and outcomes accurately reflect study objectives.
- Conduct systematic literature searches and reviews to support scientific initiatives across the research department and other teams. Interpret and synthesize findings to inform study design, data interpretation, scientific communication, and strategic decision-making.
- Align with global Research department to strategize actions for implementing new processes and achieving department and organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with Research leadership to streamline research processes, scientific output, and informed decision-making.
- Implement, execute, and oversee scientific projects to support stakeholder collaboration and amplify research outcomes.
- Effectively collaborate with Arthrex business units and subject matter experts to interpret study result analyses and strategize publication and amplification.
- Author protocols, regulatory documents, and related scientific documents, such as conference abstracts, posters, presentations, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
- Communicate Research Department resources and success during medical education events, external stakeholder visits, and academic/industry conferences.
- Provide training and mentoring to Research staff on research best practices and scientific communication.
- Responsible for maintaining Arthrex scientific access to medical and scientific journals.
Education / Experience:
- Master’s degree in an Engineering or Life Sciences related field required.
- PhD preferred.
- Experience in orthopedic research, medical device, or clinical research preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- General understanding of mechanical and biomechanical testing methods and principles
- General understanding of clinical research principles
- Able to complete data analysis, statistical comparisons, and write technical reports
- General understanding of scientific manuscript and report writing
- Knowledge of orthopedic and related techniques preferred
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office software
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Comfortable writing technical reports
- Understanding of statistical analysis and being able to use statistical software
- Ability to perform peer-reviewed literature searches and summaries
