Arthrex prides itself in their Medical Education and has recently grown its 3DAnatomy initiative to supplement that need. The 3DAnatomy team is a new and rapidly growing team dedicated to the creation of realistic anatomical simulators for training, testing, and education purposes. We are search for a Co-op pursuing a Biomedical or related Engineering degree, or a Biological Sciences degree to support our team. A successful candidate would work closely with the team including design of 3D printed anatomical structures, documentation of surgical techniques, and gathering feedback by working with the Medical Education and Product Management teams. An ideal candidate has a strong background in medical concepts, anatomy, and 3D printing.
This Co-op will run from January 2026 - June 2026. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.
Main Objective:
To support our 3DAnatomy team in the collection of medical information related to creating 3D printed and silicone casted anatomical simulacra as well as other projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the 3DAnatomy team to design potential cases, such as a realistic rotator cuff tear simulator with repair structures.
- Qualifying differing grades of synthetic polymers and design techniques intended on mimicking human soft tissues (muscles, tendons, etc.).
- Documenting the techniques intended to be executed on the simulator, and collecting feedback from end-users.
- Working closely with both the 3DAnatomy Engineering team and the 3DAnatomy Art team to help contribute to the design process of said simulator.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Enrolled as a full-time junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering or Biological Science or a recent graduate required. Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
(Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.)
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
- Basic to intermediate computer skills. Be able to follow written and verbal direction.
- Prior experience with engineering/medical device design, CAD software (SolidWorks), CT or MRI Reconstruction, operating room experience (shadowing), 3D printing, materials science (polymers) and anatomical knowledge preferred.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
