Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex Manufacturing Inc. is actively searching for an Industrial Engineer I at our Ave Maria, FL location. The Industrial Engineer I will increase the productivity of inventory, material handling systems, and manufacturing operations to help the business achieve production goals, cost reduction targets, and growth strategies. Drive scrap/waste reduction efforts across all Final Assembly, Packaging, and Labeling Operations. A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or another Engineering discipline is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Discover opportunities for waste reduction and capacity improvement and proactively drive solutions with and without capital investment.
- Act as liaison between Finance, Engineering, Facilities, and Materials/Supply Chain and to develop business case rationale for engineering projects and to coordinate the MOC (Management of Change) process for the department.
- Facilitate kaizen events targeting key improvements to drive productivity, data management/collection, business process, and paperwork handling improvements.
- Develop and implement systems and improvement strategies for direct material flow (in plant transport, inventory staging/access, and assembly line supply).
- Evaluate process improvements for operations (labor balancing, time studies, line setup, error proofing, assembly methods, etc.) to minimize downtime and rework.
- Provide financial analysis for Make/Buy decisions in support of continuous improvement projects.
- Coordinate equipment / process changes on assembly lines.
- Review product documentation for accuracy and completeness (BOMs, Routers, Work Instructions, Assembly Drawings, Packaging Instructions, Component Drawings, Inspection Process Sheets, etc.).
- Create and manage production routers and MRB related rework processes.
- Evaluate and approve engineering changes prior to implementation on plant floor.
- Identify issues and risks to ensure cost effective new product development and introduction into manufacturing.
- Assist with annual budget preparation.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or other Engineering discipline required.
- Experience in medical device manufacturing or other health sciences industry preferred.
- Co-op or internship experience preferred.
- SAP, Minitab, Solidworks experience preferred.
- Experience working in a controlled manufacturing environment is preferred.
Skill Requirements:
- Skills, Basic knowledge of MS Office programs required.
- Basic knowledge of administrative procedures and computer systems.
- Basic ability to develop data collection plans (time studies, work sampling).
- Basic ability to analyze data and process inputs to justify improvements.
- Basic ability to execute a designed experiment (DOE) and collect the data.
- Ability to support team improvement projects.
- Ability to assist in cost analysis and financial planning by estimating production labor and equipment costs.
- Ability to develop the most efficient methods of utilizing people, machines, materials, information, and energy.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to communicate ideas, results, recommendations, and status effectively in oral and written forms.
Knowledge:
Limited use and/or application of basic principles, theories, and concepts. Limited knowledge of industry practices and standards.
Reasoning Ability:
Solves routine problems of limited scope and complexity following established policies and procedures. Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Work is closely supervised. Follows specific, detailed instructions.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements.

Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management. Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
