Main Objective:
The Senior Master Data Analyst (APAC) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day‑to‑day operational activities of the APAC Master Data team. This role provides tactical leadership across systems, business processes, and project execution, ensuring high‑quality master data creation and maintenance aligned with global standards.
While this role does not include people management responsibilities, the Senior Master Data Analyst acts as the central point of coordination within the team—guiding workload distribution, supporting issue resolution, reinforcing standards, and serving as the first escalation point for operational challenges.
The role partners closely with Global MDG, Product Lifecycle Management, PTP, OTC, and subsidiary data requestors and stewards to ensure efficient, accurate, and compliant master data management across the region.
Master Data Analyst key stakeholders whom he/she will work on a regular basis
- INC MDG (Master Data Governance): defines the organizational structure, policies, standards, ownership and metrics that are used to manage data.
- Subsidiary Data Requestors: Functional Team members within the business or subsidiary-specific organization responsible for providing the source data of the master data needed in each country, e.g. country Demand Planners may provide material master data for locally purchased products (Retail), or product extension requests that is facilitated through APAC Master Data Management team.
- Subsidiary Data Stewards: Local Regulatory, Operations, Customer Service, Finance, Sourcing and Distribution professionals who provide and use specific master data
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Operations Leadership (Non‑People Management)
- Lead and coordinate daily team activities to ensure timely processing of master data tasks.
- Monitor incoming workload and assign tasks efficiently when needed.
- Act as the first point of contact for APAC team queries, issue escalations, and guidance.
- Ensure adherence to global policies, data standards, and regional procedures.
- Support the Manager MDG APAC in reporting, audit preparation, and operational follow-ups.
Data Administration
- Facilitate the creation and maintenance of material master data and customer master data.
- Perform regional costing runs and maintain related purchasing data (PIRs, Source Lists, etc.).
- Conduct data quality checks prior to activation or modification of master data.
- Analyze requests and implement changes in cooperation with country data requestors and stewards.
- Troubleshoot data-related issues causing downstream transaction problems.
- Maintain SLA commitments for accuracy, completeness, and turnaround time.
Data Stewardship & Governance
- Maintain documented regional procedures to support high-quality master data creation.
- Collaborate closely with subsidiary data requestors and data stewards to ensure data completeness and accuracy.
- Identify process gaps and recommend process improvements or simplification opportunities.
- Support regional and global data quality reporting, metrics tracking, and SLA adherence.
- Coordinate alignment with regulatory, finance, quality, and operations stakeholders on data attributes required for end‑to‑end process flows.
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Facilitation
- Collaborate with Product Management, Marketing, and Commercial teams to implement product lifecycle strategies in SAP.
- Ensure timely and accurate master data setup for new product introductions and material extensions.
- Support product phase‑out or substitution activities through correct data settings and communication.
- Facilitate data collection and alignment for PLM‑related decisions.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Lead or support process improvement initiatives to enhance data quality, workflow efficiency, or system capabilities.
- Participate in global/regional system projects, testing cycles, or deployment activities.
- Prepare materials for presentations, reports, or training.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Assist with or lead special projects, but not limited to Process Improvements, including presentations materials and other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of master data or related supply chain experience.
- Experience working with SAP R/3 or S/4HANA is required.
- Prior coordination or informal team leadership experience is an advantage.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
- Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
- Deep understanding of SAP master data objects and their cross-functional impact.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Table, VLOOKUP, Macros).
- Power BI skills preferred.
- Strong English communication skills; additional Asian languages (Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Japanese, Malay, Thai) desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional and cross-regional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines.
