About the Role:
The Director of Medical Education is responsible for furthering Arthrex medical education across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region and to assure Arthrex continues to be recognised and respected among peers and the medical community.  This position will oversee, coordinate, and execute Arthrex’s global medical education strategy in APAC, which will require utilising a high-level understanding of the industry, clinical practice, and relevant experience in orthopaedics.

The primary objective of this Leadership role is to drive the delivery medical education within the APAC strategic framework to improve care for patients through education of healthcare professionals (HCPs), Arthrex employees, and Arthrex business partner representatives. 

This position will be Singapore-based and reporting directly to the SVP of Global Medical Education (US-based). 

As a subject matter expert in orthopaedic surgery, you will ensure excellence in delivering treatment solutions across all Arthrex portfolios by designing and executing high-impact medical education programs, assets, and training curricula. This role will require strategic planning and collaboration across all stakeholders to support HCPs in delivering optimal patient outcomes.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a tactical execution plan aligned with the APAC strategic framework in collaboration with product innovation and commercial representation tailored to the diverse needs of various APAC markets.
  • Contribute to the achievement of APAC business objectives as a member of the APAC Leadership Team by aligning medical education strategies with broader business goals.
  • Provide strategic guidance on medical education delivery, influencing company direction, product development, and overall business strategy.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of medical education programs across APAC subsidiaries, ensuring alignment with Global Medical Education policies.
  • Partner with the global medical education team to establish and share best practices, with a focus on delivering an exceptional surgeon learning experience.
  • Maintain deep expertise in orthopaedic and arthroscopic concepts, Arthrex product lines, and clinical procedures to effectively educate surgeons, HCP's, business partners, and employees.
  • Lead and participate in HCP education and training initiatives, including cadaveric surgical demonstrations and hands-on instruction.
  • Build and manage relationships with regional surgeons, developing a comprehensive needs assessment and engagement strategy to support clinical education.
  • Design and coordinate professional development programs for employees and sales representatives, leveraging both online and in-person training formats.
  • Manage the APAC Grants Committee process, including the evaluation of educational and fellowship grants and donations.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the medical education team, including recruitment, performance management, and individual development planning.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical sciences required. Advanced degree is preferred (e.g. medical doctor).
  • Minimum of 10 years of orthopaedic experience required (arthroscopy preferred). Must have an in-depth knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures
  • Working understanding of medical education and training processes
  • Management and leadership experience is required
  • Exceptional communication skills, with fluency in English
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 40% of the time
  • High level of cultural awareness and sensitivity, ideally with experience working across APAC markets and adapting approaches to local contexts.
