Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in a new product development and medical education in orthopedics. The imaging and resection team is searching for an intern to support Design Transfer activities for next generation imaging products. The successful candidate will support engineering build, assist with engineering drawing, change notices and technical documentation with guidance from the engineering staff, and design to manufacturing processes. This internship will run from May 2022-August 2022. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work at least 30 hours per week onsite in Santa Barbara, CA. The individual will contribute towards process improvement projects. This individual will also within the requirements of their tasks to deliver results and communicate issues in a timely and accurate manner. This position will run from May 2022 - August 2022. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work fulltime 30 - 40 hours per week at our Santa Barbara Arthrex California Technology location.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create Manufacturing Feasibility Commitment Forms (MFC) for various projects.
  • Contribute towards Design for “X” (DfX) assembly area in Engineering by collaborating with stakeholders, identify needed equipment, and organize material.
  • Assist with End-Of-Life (EOL) process and create Time/Cost/Risk Calculator.
  • Assist Design Transfer Team to develop for “X” DfX process Work Instructions, coordinate DfX product builds, and organize resulting feedback.
  • Create Engineering change orders related to Design Transfer, and update CAD models and drawings as required.
  • Add structure to ACT prototyping efforts such as type, functional requirements, and testing workflows.


Education and Experience:

  • Progress towards a college degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering. A college, sophomore, junior or senior preferred. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)



Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Intermediate to Expert computer skills.
  • Be able to follow written and verbal direction. PowerPoint applications proficiency a plus.
  • Aptitude toward engineering design and development preferred.



Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

  • PC; High proficiency with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner. CAD Software; Solidworks, Creo.
