The Sutures Manufacturing Engineering team in Pendleton, South Carolina (AMISC) is responsible for supporting all sutures manufacturing operations at AMISC. We are searching for an intern pursuing a degree in the disciplines of Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, & Textiles. The successful candidate will prepare, execute, and document engineering studies and validations with guidance from the engineering staff. The individual will setup equipment and perform various textile test methods and will be detail oriented in the execution and documentation of these test methods. The individual will also work within the requirements of their tasks to deliver results and communicate issues in a timely and accurate manner.

 

This internship will run from August 2022 – December 2022. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work at least 30 hours per week at our Pendleton, SC facility.

 

Main Objective:

To support development and validation of extruded yarns at Arthrex Manufacturing, Inc. - South Carolina (AMISC).

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute engineering studies for yarn development

  • Write and execute validation documents

  • Develop and perform testing on samples for mechanical and chemical verification                                                    

  • Work closely with Sr. Mechanical Engineer to plan and execute DOE plans

  • Analyze data using statistical techniques to support recipe development

 

Education and Experience:

  • Progress towards a college degree in Engineering required, preferably in Biomedical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Basic to intermediate computer skills. Be able to follow written and verbal direction.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
