The Environmental Health & Safety department, consisting of Safety Professionals and Engineers in Pendleton, South Carolina, is seeking an Intern to provide support in daily tasks, while gaining functional experience in a medical device manufacturing environment. The chosen individual will assist in complex equipment machine safety validations, evaluate adequacy of safety controls, assist with developing and reviewing basic safety training classes, regulatory related inspections and perform basic Job Hazard Analysis and Chemical Hazard Analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong data analysis experience and will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a Bachelor of Science in an Engineering related field.

 

This internship will run from May 2025 – August 2025. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work at 40 hours per week at our Pendleton, SC facility.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with complex equipment machine safety validations via checklists.
  • Evaluate adequacy of safety controls (PPE, administrative and Engineering) through OSHA and internal standards.
  • Assist with developing and reviewing basic safety training classes (e.g., content review, documentation, scheduling)
  • Perform basic Job Hazard Analysis and Chemical Hazard Analysis.
  • This is an in-office position located in Pendleton, SC; it is not a remote position.

 

Education and Experience:

Progress towards a college degree in a related field required, preferably in Occupational Safety and Health or Engineering(Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Basic to intermediate computer skills. Be able to follow written and verbal direction.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
