Please note, this internship is located in Naples, FL and is eligible for limited benefits. The ideal candidate will be available from May - August 2021.

 

Main Objective:

To acquire translation and terminology management experience while providing specialized terminology assistance to ensure effective accessibility and re-use of terminology.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide multilingual terminology management support, including general terminology database maintenance, respond to terminology queries, and validation of translated terms.

  • Contribute to the cleanup and consolidation of the Arthrex Dictionary and translation memories.

  • Participate in terminology roundtables.

  • Assist in reporting on terminology metrics

  • Contribute and validate scientific and technical terms and to add concept relationships, where appropriate.

Education and Experience:

  • Progress towards a college degree in Translation and Localization Management, Interpretation or a Life Sciences related degree required.
  • Previous experience in medical translation and/or healthcare interpreting is preferred.

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Basic to intermediate computer skills.
  • Be able to follow written and verbal direction.
  • Knowledge of theory and practice of terminology.
  • Familiarity with terminology management, corpus management, or CAT tools.
  • Solid understanding of terminological and reference research techniques related to specialized terminology.
  • Excellent command of English with knowledge of Japanese, Russian, Portuguese, or Spanish.
  • Good analytical, communication and organizational skills.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
