We are actively searching for an experienced Senior Engineer who will support our capital equipment electrical sustaining activities for the I&R Engineering team. This engineer will manage and coordinate as assigned sustaining engineering tasks including design, engineering, documentation, manufacturability, and qualification of the project. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, five plus years of relevant engineering experience, project management experience and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering are essential for this position. Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Maintains released Device Master Records (DMR) of assigned product portfolio by owning sustaining activities including End of Life component replacement, and supply chain issues, specifying alternative components, materials, and solutions as required.
  • Performs analysis of analog and digital circuits including performance estimation, power dissipation, frequency response, and tolerance stack up.
  • Evaluates devices, circuits, and interconnection systems for performance and potential interference.
  • Coordinates and performs safety and EMC testing/mitigation in-house and through third-party testing laboratories.
  • Initiates product cost reduction and performance/quality improvement projects from concept phase to production implementation with support of Design Engineering Staff.
  • Recommends design changes to Design Engineering Staff.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key manufacturing partners, both internal and external, supporting them on process improvements.
  • Partners with Supply Chain and Supplier Quality Engineers to down select and onboard contract manufacturers and component suppliers.
  • Partners with Quality Engineering and Design Engineering in performing root cause investigations.
  • Builds prototypes, products, and systems suitable for testing.  Sets up tests, performs tests, and runs lab simulations in order to perform design verification and root cause analysis.
  • Authors, approves, and manages Engineering Change Orders (ECO) including engineering documentation such as drawings and schematics.
  • Participates in product design reviews of new product development projects with Design Engineering Staff, providing oversight of component selection, circuit design, layout, testability, serviceability, and manufacturability.
  • Determines budgets for assigned projects.  Works with Program Management Office (PMO) to develop project schedules.
  • Maintains Design History Files (DHF) for assigned products and updates as necessary, adhering to Arthrex design control procedures.
  • Provides Regulatory technical support for assigned products as needed.
  • Supports Marketing and Product Management with technical information to be used for training and marketing of assigned products.
  • Facilitates creation of Design Verification test plans, protocols, and reports for design changes with support from Design Engineering Staff.
  • Reports progress and status of assigned projects on a timely basis to supervisor.
  • Maintains familiarity with the state of the art of technology used in assigned products.

 

Education and Experience:

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience is required.

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Working knowledge of electrical manufacturing processes, specifically PCB’s and PCBA’s, is required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot circuits using oscilloscopes is required.
  • Knowledge of board layout practices, schematic creation preferred.
  • Project management and communication skills preferred.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

  • Proficiency in the use of schematic capture and PCB layout software is required.
  • Proficiency in use of advanced electronic test equipment such as digital oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and others is required.
  • Proficiency in the use of ESD protection devices and safety practices for working with high voltage circuitry is required.
  • Proficiency in IEC and ISO technical standards is preferred.
