With a corporate mission of Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™, Arthrex has pioneered the field of arthroscopy and develops more than 1,000 innovative products and procedures each year that support all aspects of orthopedics. The Imaging and Resection team, based in Naples, FL, is searching for a Co-op to support the design and development of the Shaver system. The successful candidate will support in designing test fixtures, developing test methods for new products, assisting in engineering drawing, change notices and technical documentations with guidance from the engineering staff. The individual will perform various engineering studies, design test fixtures, and get them 3D printed or manufactured, perform gage repeatability and reproducibility (gage R&R) studies and support in documentation of development activities. The individual will also work within the requirements of their tasks to deliver results and communicate issues in a timely and accurate manner.


This Co-op will run from January 2023 – June 2023. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.


Main Objective:

To support design and testing activities including, but not limited to, Solid-works modeling, drawing, prototype parts, test protocols, and support documentation. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide design support in developing testing fixtures for shaver handpieces.
  • Perform the design of experiments on development projects.
  • Assign in engineering design, drawing, and making 3D printed parts and test fixture.
  • Assist product development team with Design History File (DHF) documentation.
  • Assist in engineering testing for new products in the development stage. 
  • This is an in-office position located in Naples, FL; it is not a remote position.

Education and Experience:

  • Progress towards a college degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering is required. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)
  • Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0


Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Basic to intermediate computer skills. Be able to follow written and verbal directions.

Aptitude toward engineering design and development is preferred.


Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Solidworks; Fax; Scanner.
