This position will require some local travel within the Southwest Florida area (Naples/Ft. Myers/Ave Maria)

 

Main Objective:

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) / Psychiatrist is responsible for providing standardized counseling/talk therapy, outpatient psychiatric evaluations and medication management for Arthrex employees and their family members in Florida with mild to moderate mental health conditions and/or substance abuse. The PMHNP / Psychiatrist will work to address other social needs of patients through creation and implementation of educational presentations and community referrals as appropriate.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assess, diagnose and treat the mental and behavioral health status of Arthrex employees and their family members in compliance with all local, state and federal laws
  2. Provide counseling/talk therapy to scheduled patients utilizing professional counseling standards in both individual and group settings.
  3. Formulates differential diagnosis of mild to moderate mental health conditions and/or substance abuse.
  4. Formulates short-term and long-term counseling plans for patients under care.
  5. Provide medication management of common psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety and attention deficit disorders.
  6. Interact effectively and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, education, racial, ethnic and professional backgrounds.
  7. Work as an effective team member but able to function independently demonstrating sound judgment and initiative.
  8. Be flexible to shift priorities and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
  9. Establish and maintain effective interpersonal work relationships to assist medical and wellness colleagues in accomplishing shared health and wellness goals.  
  10. Identify patients with urgent mental health conditions (e.g., suicidal, homicidal, psychotic, etc.) and make appropriate referrals to emergency or psychiatric treatment facilities.
  11. Provide written/electronic documentation of counseling sessions, assessments, interventions, and recommendations within a timely fashion
  12. Maintain a daily patient schedule and also provide non-scheduled urgent assessments as needed
  13. Provide individual, group and family therapy sessions
  14. Create and present monthly presentations to employees and their family members on varied mental health topics
  15. Assist Arthrex Medical Center leadership in developing protocols for mental health services.
  16. Prepare monthly productivity and quality improvement reports
  17. Participate in a team management approach to patient care/treatment.
  18. Maintain appropriate documentation of clinical and counseling services, including all necessary billing information
  19. Maintain and update professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, staff meetings and workshops
  20. Collaborates with internal partners to market and communicate services.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or Doctorate Degree from an accredited university with a focus on Psychiatry, Counseling and Psychology required
  • Must hold a national advanced practice certification such as a PMHNP or appropriate board certification
  • 3 years experience as a licensed provider providing direct, unsupervised care to persons receiving treatment for mental health or psychiatric disorders required
  • Ability to work with both adult and youth/child populations
  • Must be clinically licensed in Florida (PMHNP, M.D.or D.O.)
  • Ability to be licensed in South Carolina preferred
  • Experience in telemedicine
  • Bilingual oral and written skills preferred (Spanish and English)
  • Additional certifications preferred

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/ Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Must demonstrate knowledge and experience in program development and coordination of therapeutic services.
  • Provide culturally competent, evidence-based, skills-based, and client-centered outpatient behavioral therapy for individuals, families and groups.
  • Ability to provide virtual counseling when needed
  • Ability to maintain Continuing Education as required by state licensing boards.
  • Demonstrates independent initiative in communicating available services
  • Must be willing to travel between Arthrex worksites in SWFL and possibly South Carolina
  • Must be willing to work evening hours and weekends if necessary.
  • Ability to identify and implement a HIPAA compliant electronic medical records system for client charting.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Microsoft Excel, Teams, Word, and Outlook. Electronic medical records system.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form. Deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Mathematical Skills
