The individual(s) that are chosen for this position will engage with engineers of different product portfolios to create and optimize products, support the verification and validation activities, develop and implement process fixturing & tooling, and analyze results from data collection systems to better understand the performance of the processes. Selected students will engage with process engineering teams responsible for designing, project management, device testing and more. Preferably, the ideal candidate will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineer or another related field. Computer aided modeling experience and effective oral & written technical communication skills are strongly preferred.


This Co-op will run from January 2023 - June 2023. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.


Main Objective:

Co-op will work with the Program and Project Engineering department to gain experience in research, design, and testing of medical devices.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports subsidiary-based and global projects/programs within the scope of the new product development.
  • Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculates time requirements, identifying and sequencing project elements, and discreet tasks.
  • Supports project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving risks or obstacles.
  • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, requesting, and allocating resources as necessary.
  • Develop understanding of design history file for assigned projects, adhering to Arthrex design control procedures.
  • Supports Design Engineering by acting as liaison to the Test Engineering Team to collect and analyze data from feasibility testing.
  • Supports Test Engineers in the design and development of test fixtures to support test method developments.
  • Supports the feasibility and performance of testing execution.

  • This is an in-office position located in Naples, FL; it is not a remote position.


Education and Experience:

  • Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree with major in Mechanical, Electrical or related discipline, or a recent graduate. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)
  • Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0


Knowledge and Skill Requirements /Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing and possess the ability to work through technical issues


Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation, mechanical testing equipment, PC, ProEngineer or other 3D modeling software a plus.
