The candidate will assist the lead Product Manager in product management initiatives with regards to cross functional product development, product launches, training, and sales support. The successful candidate will build relationships with cross functional team members, sales management, sales representatives, and surgeons and add value beyond transactional tasks by pursuing creative and innovative opportunities to provide timely, meaningful, market research, product collateral and training materials. Main Objective:  

To assist in the analysis, planning, marketing and organization of a product team in order to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  1. Conducts market research as it pertains to business segments specific to new product development initiatives.  

  1. Assist in the development of marketing materials and sales training documents for new products. 

  1. Provides technical expertise and training to other departments in support of product development. 

  1. Produces competitive analysis materials comparing product with its key competitors. 

  1. Maintains communications and contacts to collect and analyze technical, financial, schedule, and sales information for product line. 

  1. Provides expertise in particular product area and develops strategies and applicable portions of the company business plan. 

  1. Coordinates product introduction and market exploitation with marketing and sales organizations to ensure maximum penetration of market segment. 

  1. Provides continuing product surveillance and management of established product to obtain financial objectives. 

  1. Provide technical assistance with complex customer issues as well as consulting services to streamline customer internal management processes. 

  1. Prepares technical and financial reviews of the assigned projects and presents information to Senior Managers, business unit management, customer and project team personnel as required. 

  1. Conducts surgeon and sales rep product and procedure training.  

  1. Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to develop and provide product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities. 

  1. Assists in management of the development stage of the product life cycle with assistance from Product Management. 

  1. Defines promotional activities, publicizing the product through the press, sales force, and alternate distribution channels. 

  1. Establishes and maintains relationships with key surgeons. 

  1. Ability to work with cadavers in a lab setting. 

  1. Required travel up to 15% - 35%. The amount of travel will vary per product team. 

 

Education and Experience:   

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in business or marketing 

  • MBA preferred  

  • Experience in Medical Marketing preferred. 

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:   

  • Knowledge of human anatomy 

  • Proven work experience such as an internship specifically in medical device, marketing/product management or a clinical environment a plus 

  • Excellent listening skills, including the ability to identify and isolate customers concerns or objections, in addition to excellent written and oral communication skills  

  • Excellent communication and public speaking / presentation skills are required 

  • Performance and Results oriented/sense of urgency 

  • Strong interpersonal skills 

  • Effective decision making 

  • Creative problem-solving skills 

  • High level of attention to detail 

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills: 

  • PC and various and specialized software. 

  • Computer proficiency in all Microsoft office applications required.
