Main Objective:

The Physical Therapist works under the direction of the Manager of Physical Rehabilitation to promote the mission through a variety of methods including providing medically prescribed on-site physical therapy for Arthrex employees to restore function, alleviate pain, and prevent disabilities. This position is primarily clinical, treating and interacting to a great extent on a one-on-one basis with the Arthrex employees but collaborates regularly with the on-site medical clinic, employee wellness program, occupational health program and Environmental Health & Safety Department to identify preventable workplace risks, implement strategies to minimize injuries and improve overall employee health and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Executes the daily operations of a worksite physical therapy clinic.
    Restores patient's function, alleviates pain, and prevents disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed physical therapy for Arthrex employees and others deemed appropriate to treat.
  2. Meets the patient's goals/needs and provides high-quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining physical therapy treatment plans based on competent medical expertise, in consultation with physicians, or by prescription.
  3. Helps patient accomplish treatment plan and accept therapeutic devices by administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, return to activity and sport programs, and in using assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
  4. Collaborates with the Arthrex Medical Centers and external, referring physicians to provide therapy services, facilitate patient compliance with prescribed therapy plans and develop new programs and services.
  5. Identifies workplace and behavioral risks that lead to injury and compensation claims and provide solutions to prevent workplace injuries.
  6. Collaborates with Workers Compensation Program to review injuries and provide job function solutions to minimize lost work time and reduce the risk of repeat injuries.
  7. Collaborates with the Workers Compensation Program and other Arthrex departments to identify musculoskeletal injury trends. Develops and implements programs to reduce both chronic and acute workplace injuries.
  8. Collaborates with Environmental Health and Safety team to provide workplace ergonomic education and assessments.  Assessments may include balance testing, functional movement analysis, postural assessment, range of motion testing and flexibility/strength measurements as well as functional capacity evaluations or work hardening programs.
  9. Completes discharge planning by consulting with Arthrex medical clinic staff and other healthcare professionals.
  10. Documents, charts and manages departmental and patient records while ensuring patient confidentiality. Manages patient scheduling platform and process.
  11. Presents education to individual employees and groups on a variety of wellness topics, including in-service training programs for staff development.
  12. Encourages development of new program ideas and educate appropriate staff on new programs.
  13. Adheres to the policies on infection control and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  14. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipate future legislation; enforce adherence to requirements; advise management on needed actions.
  15. Travel may be required between SW Florida locations and potentially out of state.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required.

Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy preferred.

Florida PT licensure required.
CPR certification required.

Minimum 3 years of related experience required.

Bi-lingual (Spanish Speaking) preferred.

Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements.

 

Language and Communication Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above.  Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management.
