Engineer I - Continuous Improvement

Main Objective:  The continuous improvement engineer is responsible for improving product development processes by using continuous improvement techniques

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Executes continuous improvement projects to support the product development organization.
2. Applies Lean and Six Sigma methodologies in the implementation of process excellence initiatives.
3. Drives the standardization of processes and the implementation of metrics and best practices.
4. Facilitates kaizen, problem solving and rapid improvement process events with both internal and external employees and suppliers with a major emphasis on focused improvement.
5. Communicate with all levels of the organization as appropriate to gain and maintain support for initiatives.

Education/Experience

BS Degree required. Engineering related field preferred.

Knowledge

• • Limited use and/or application of basic principles, theories, and concepts. 
  • Limited knowledge of industry practices and standards.

Skills

• Knowledgeable of engineering product development required.
• Knowledgeable of FDA and ISO guidelines for the development of medical devices required.
• Manufacturing process knowledge preferred.
• Supply Chain process knowledge preferred.
• Project management and communication skills training preferred.

Reasoning Ability

Solves routine problems of limited scope and complexity following established policies and procedures.

Discretion/Latitude

Work is closely supervised.  Follows specific, detailed instructions.
