Main Objective:

Work to provide anatomically accurate 3D printed medical models for all aspects of surgical techniques, and education targeted for orthopedic surgeons.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and edit technically accurate medical 3D models, animations, and textures. These will be used in Medical Education materials targeted for orthopedic surgeons. Materials include anatomically correct models of major joint or other valid orthopedic structures, and animations of said models in simulated procedures.
  • Works productively and harmoniously with Department Managers, 3D animators, Product managers, and medical education.
  • Assists to create 3D models or edit, animation and textures using computer graphics software.
  • Evaluates and recommends new methods for use in medical modeling or animation, including hardware and software.
  • Follows standards and guidelines for consistent corporate identity outlined in both the Marketing and Medical Visualization style guides.
  • Observes surgical demonstrations including cadaver dissections where appropriate.
  • Produces 3D models that are applicable for 3D printing or 3D visualization
  • Ensures that models are made to achieve objectives, to specifications, and to high standards
  • Meets and attempts to exceed delivery expectations through frequent and clear communication

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • BS/BA/BFA Degree or at least 2+ years of applicable experience
    • Experience related to 3D modeling and animation
    • Computer Graphics/Video Games/Animation or other related experience
    • Medical background desired but not necessary
  • Equivalent experience in related fields

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Advanced proficiency Maya, 3D Studio Max, or ZBrush required
    • Any related software not mentioned above
  • Knowledge of orthopedic anatomy, medical terminology preferred
  • Previous experience modeling or animating anatomically accurate models preferred
  • Experience applying textures to a 3D model and creating high quality renders preferred
  • Experience in observing surgical procedures or cadaveric dissections preferred
  • Proficiency in Aftereffects or Photoshop preferred
  • High Sense of urgency to complete projects in a timely manner
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

 

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
