Welding Engineering Intern

 Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. The Packaging Engineering team in Ave Maria, Florida (AMIE) is responsible for supporting all laser, passivation, cleaning, assembly, and packaging operations. We are searching for an intern pursuing a Welding Engineering degree to support the laser, passivation, and cleaning area. The successful candidate will support laser-marking and laser-marking process validation. The individual will also work within the requirements of their tasks to deliver results and communicate issues in a timely and accurate manner.)

This internship will run from May 2024 – August 2024. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Ave Maria, FL facility.

Main Objective:

To support the AMIE Packaging Engineering team responsible for Laser Welding and Laser Marking processes to support process development and new product development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Identify optimum laser equipment specifications.
• Identify optimum laser process setting.
• Support laser-marking and laser-marking process validation.
• This is an in-office position located in Ave Maria FL; it is not a remote position.

Education and Experience:

Progress towards a college degree in a related field required, preferably in Welding Engineering. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

• Basic to intermediate computer skills.
• Be able to follow written and verbal direction
• Metallurgy, welding, laser, and/or applied optics experience preferred.
• Technical writing skills and interation with Engineers and Technicians preferred.
• Experience with Solidworks is a plus. 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
