We are looking for a Senior Welding Engineer II to provide welding process engineering support to the Manufacturing and Product Design teams to achieve business goals.  To support projects involving commercialization of new products; commercialization of new laser welding equipment; continuous improvements to existing process performance; increases in productivity and production capacity; and reduction of costs. This position is located in our Manufacturing Location in Ave Maria, Florida. 

Monday- Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Materials, Laser Applied Optics and theory, and relevant Machine design/function.
  • Proficiency in Industry Standard (ASTM) Test Methods.
  • Proficiency in ISO 13485 standard as related to Process Validations.
  • Advanced knowledge of using CAD, 3D modeling software for understanding part-to-part welding requirements. Basic knowledge of using CAD Software for viewing, creating, and maintaining basic Tooling/Fixturing and equipment drawings
  • Ability to create complex, equipment programs and recipes
  • Proficiency in drafting and executing engineering study protocols, DOE’s, analyzing data, and writing reports. Proficiency in advanced statistical analysis to develop mathematical models to characterize the laser-welding process and optimize laser-welding parameters
  • Proficiency in developing new test methods for laser-welding inspection in compliance with industry, regulatory, and internal quality standards.
  • Proficiency in using project management tools (MS Project, Mindview, Workfront) to plan large capital projects.
  • Proficiency in preparing a capital equipment budget and justification (ROI)
  • Ability to communicate ideas, results, recommendations, and status effectively in oral and written forms.
  • Ability to directly supervise junior personnel and technicians.
  • Ability to recommend product design criteria such as part geometry and material composition for optimum laser welding.
  • Ability to lead a Root Cause Analysis event using industry-standard tools: 5 Why, Ishikawa, Kepner-Tregoe, 4D, 8D
  • Ability to identify potential process failure modes using the pFMEA method

 

Education/Experience

  • B.S. in Engineering required; preferably in Welding, Applied Optics/Lasers, or Materials Science
  • Minimum of 8 Yrs. experience in as an Engineer in Design or Manufacturing required, processes using Laser Welding preferred
  • Proven Experience leading process improvement projects.
  • Proven Experience leading new equipment, capital projects.
  • Manufacturing experience in Medical Device manufacturing preferred
  • SAP, miniTab, Solidworks experience preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt certification preferred.
