5 Questions with Orthobiologics’ Iliana Gonzalez

Watching an idea grow into a product that is used by surgeons around the world is just one highlight of Orthobiologics Associate Product Manager Iliana Gonzalez’s career here at Arthrex. In this edition of 5 Questions, she talks about the importance of the Golden Rule as career advice and why the Orthobiologics team makes Arthrex a great place to work.

What does a typical day at Arthrex look like for you?

I manage our JumpStart® antimicrobial wound dressing globally and our registered biologics products for LATAM countries, including ACP, Quickset™ calcium phosphate cement and the BioUni® OATS® instrument set. Being in product management I am responsible for new product development activities, including forming ideas on how to improve existing products, developing marketing strategies and collaborating with consultants to find new and innovative applications for those products. Additionally, I get to work closely with our sales and medical education teams on how best to introduce and talk about the product to physicians.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Every day is different and challenging. I get a front-row seat to watch the process of growing a simple idea into a global product used by surgeons around the world. I love having a voice in shaping those ideas. My peers listen to my ideas and the whole team works together to make them happen. Everyone shares the same vision and is dedicated to the end goal. This truly creates a family environment where everybody is there for each other.

What has been a highlight during your time at Arthrex?

I started out as a receptionist and administrative assistant at Arthrex eight years ago. After one year here, I decided I wanted to attend college and went on to receive my degree from Hodges University. My highlight has truly been all eight years of working at Arthrex. I have grown professionally and personally throughout all of my time here. I am thankful to be a part of this company, but especially as part of the Orthobiologics team for the last seven years. My team has been very supportive of me and has always pushed me to be my best and continue to succeed!

What is the best advice you’ve received throughout your career?

Doing the right thing is always the right thing to do.
Treat everyone how you want to be treated.

What do you do in your downtime?

I am at my happiest when at the beach or on the water. I love being outside and enjoying the sun! I also very much enjoy spending time with my family and usually will go catch a movie or dinner with them.
