• 5 Questions With Principal Clinical Advisory Specialist Bethlyn Katz

As an Audio-Visual (AV) Event Technician, Fabian Febles gets to participate in many Arthrex events and Medical Education courses. In his role, he is involved in helping design and implement the audio and visual technology components for Arthrex’s meetings and events throughout the company’s Florida and offsite locations.

Located at the Naples global headquarters campus, Fabian recently celebrated his five-year anniversary with Arthrex and enjoys outdoor pursuits like hiking and horseback riding, Formula One racing, Miami Dolphins football, Olympic weightlifting, CrossFit and traveling with his wife, Ali.

His favorite Arthrex product is the NanoScope™ visualization system.

“I’m an AV geek, so the idea of chip-on-tip technology making minimally invasive approaches the surgery of the future is a big accomplishment,” he said. “It’s very cool to know we have a team working on the cutting edge of video technology and pushing the envelope.”

How do you impact our mission of Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™ in your role?

In my role as an Audio-Visual Event Technician, I impact our mission by helping our surgeons, medical education and exhibits teams provide some of the world’s best events and live demonstrations. I assist with designing and producing a portion of our large and small events throughout all of Arthrex’s Florida campuses as well as offsite locations.

Working with our staff and third-party vendors, we are able to produce medical education events all over the world. With these events we are able to help clinical practitioners learn about Arthrex, our products and surgical techniques through didactic sessions and live video operating room demonstrations.

I also assist in the small day-to-day events that happen such as Microsoft Teams meetings in our auditoriums, peer-to-peer presentations and new employee orientation.

What inspires you the most at Arthrex?

I am most inspired by the different projects and teams I get to work with. Every day is a new adventure in the meetings and events side of Arthrex. I get to work with world-renowned surgeons and some of the best physician assistants (PAs) in the country. The ability to help them share their stories and presentations to others is very fulfilling. Every event is a learning experience and there is always something new to learn.

What is your favorite success story at Arthrex?

There are so many success stories at Arthrex, so it’s hard to pick just one, but the best one was working with APAC Director of Medical Education Michael Fisher and the APAC team from Australia to help them produce their first ANZ Orthopedic Technology & Innovation Forum (OTIF) event in Sydney, Australia.

Using Teams calls and email, I was able to assist with the initial concept of the meeting to the full design of the AV set up, including equipment needs. In working with many other teams including those from the venue, we were able to produce a successful event. It was a seamless transition from paper to a live production. It was a huge success for the APAC team and Arthrex to have such a large event overseas.

How do you describe the Arthrex culture?

The culture at Arthrex is truly what sets it apart from all other corporations. Arthrex really cares about its employees and their wellbeing. The “family” atmosphere is still very prominent here, especially for a company that is growing so quickly. The team spirit and competitive aspect keeps innovation moving forward. We all strive to be our best and we believe in the mission of Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™.

Our core value is Making People Better. How has Arthrex made you better?

Since starting with Arthrex I’ve been able grow professionally by having a chance to learn the different sides of AV production and AV integration. I was able to take specific training courses for AV integration that I would not have had access to outside of this company.

Arthrex has also help me grow personally by allowing me to take the lead on large projects and events and to work directly with our surgeons and Medical Education staff to produce our large events.
