• 5 Questions with Ignacio Bielsa - Sales Manager, Arthrex Chile

How do you impact our mission of Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™ in your role?

As Regional Operations Manager for all LATAM subsidiaries, my role is to ensure that Arthrex products, instruments and equipment reach hospitals and clinics on time so that our surgeons can treat their patients. The entire LATAM Operations team knows that this work is essential for the success of these surgeries. We maintain the mindset that one of the patients could be a family member and we would want the surgeon operating on them to have all the solutions available to treat them.

What inspires you the most at Arthrex?

What inspires me most at Arthrex is the people: my teammates and the people I collaborate with in my work. Seeing how we all work towards a common goal sharing a common vision makes our daily work better. I am inspired to work in a place where I have the opportunity to collaborate with people who strive to be better every day.

What is your favorite success story at Arthrex?

In my 11 years with Arthrex, I have experienced many success stories in all of our LATAM subsidiaries. When I started at Arthrex, I worked with the Arthrex Mexico team in a similar role. One of the most satisfying examples is witnessing the professional and personal growth of our Arthrex México employees. Many of the employees who worked there when I started are not only still there, but have grown professionally and achieved personal fulfillment. They were able to continue their studies while at Arthrex and obtained positions of greater responsibility. Additionally, they improved their interpersonal and leadership skills, and now help their colleagues improve.

How do you describe the Arthrex culture?

The Arthrex culture focuses on its people above all else. We care about our colleagues and their well-being. We focus on collaboration and living the Arthrex values.

Our core value is Making People Better. How has Arthrex made you better?

Arthrex has made me better by offering me professional development opportunities. This formal training has helped me strengthen my leadership skills and better support my team. Through these courses I have matured professionally for the benefit of my collaborators and colleagues.

How do you impact our mission of Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better® in your role?

My responsibility is mainly to bring out the best in each of the people on my team and exploit their full potential. This is closely linked to the continuous search and development of their knowledge and skills for our clients, demonstrating solid bases of portfolio management and knowledge, development of commercial skills, detection of opportunities and handling of objections among others; all this to provide the appropriate solution to each surgeon, for each of their patients.

What inspires you the most at Arthrex?

What inspires me the most and at the same time surprises me, is the power to continually innovate and look for the best way to solve the different pathologies that surgeons face every day and hand in hand with them in the development of the best solutions. The other thing is the possibility of generating access to advanced medical technology for all communities and the impact that this generates on people's quality of life by restoring their movement.

What is your favorite success story at Arthrex?

I consider that in these months, all of us who form Arthrex Chile (and many who help us from the other subsidiaries and INC), are “living” protagonists of what will be another great success story for Arthrex by reaching the region directly. We are a team super committed to the challenge and we have no doubt that there will be many joys ahead to be proud of what we are building.

How do you describe Arthrex culture?

Despite the short time I have been with the company, I feel that I have a natural fit with it. After 4 years of having stopped working with the distributor and moving away from the brand, when I joined 4 months ago, several acquaintances told me..."you went back home" and analyzing it a little, it has to do with many of the values that They are part of our organizational culture, they are important to me and I feel identified with them. Humility, trust, integrity, courage, teamwork, among others, make one motivated by the people around them, want to row in the same direction and put on the brand's t-shirt.

Our core value is Making People Better. How was Arthrex made you better?

Without a doubt, it is the greatest of values since it ends up including many others and is an end in itself. In this short period I personally seek to be better with my team by maintaining communication, transparency, seeking to build trust and support them on a day-to-day basis in the best way possible. I believe that in this way one creates an environment conducive to dialogue, openness and the search for a common goal.
